Why We Built This
Every week, RGV business owners lose customers to Google reviews they never knew existed. A 2-star review sits unanswered for weeks while potential customers read it and go somewhere else.
The tools to fix this — reputation monitoring, AI-assisted responses, competitor tracking — existed only for large businesses that could afford $200–$400/month enterprise software. Local businesses in McAllen, Edinburg, Harlingen, and the rest of the Rio Grande Valley were left out.
RGV Review was built to change that. A transparent, data-driven reputation score for every local business in the Valley — free to discover, affordable to manage — built by a team that has been serving RGV businesses since 1997.
Who We Are
Anthony Acosta
His background spans broadcast television production (Univision, Fox, MTV), enterprise IT infrastructure, energy sector strategic communications with work displayed at the United Nations General Assembly, and concert promotion. He currently serves as Creative Director at Entravision Communications, overseeing digital strategy across dozens of TV and radio stations across the country.
RGV Review is his answer to a gap he saw every day working with local businesses: the tools to manage your online reputation existed, but not at a price point that made sense for a restaurant in Edinburg or a contractor in Mission.
Why Trust Our Scores
Publicly available data only
All review data comes from Google Business Profiles via the Google Places API — the same data any customer can see on Google Maps.
Transparent algorithm
Our 6-factor scoring methodology is fully documented. Every weight, every threshold, every calculation is explained on our methodology page.
No pay-to-play
Scores are calculated entirely from verified Google review data. No payment or relationship with RGV Review affects a business's score.
Updated weekly
Review data syncs every 6 hours for claimed businesses. Scores recalculate nightly. The leaderboard reflects current data, not stale snapshots.
Local and independent
RGV Review is built and operated from McAllen, Texas. We're not a national aggregator — we're your neighbors.
Not affiliated with Google
RGV Review is an independent service. We use the Google Places API but are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google LLC.
